La storia geologica e l’origine del Monte San Giorgio

Lungi da me dal voler riassumere in 20 minuti di video, anni di corsi universitari e lunghe chiacchierate con alcuni responsabili colleghi e appassionati del sito UNESCO Monte San Giorgio e, soprattutto più di 300 milioni di anni di storia…

Ho voluto utilizzare la storia di questa piccola montagna (Il Monte San Giorgio) delle Prealpi per cercare di far capire un po’ di più il trascorrere del tempo e degli eventi sul nostro fantastico PIANETA TERRA!

Allora in questo video percorriamo più di 300 milioni di anni per arrivare a come troveremmo il Monte San Giorgio e come mai lo troveremmo così, nel caso andassimo domani a fargli visita!

Chiedo perdono per eventuali imprecisioni …e soprattutto per la sintesi…

Ciao, ti propongo una curiosità, il Permiano è rosso ma le sue rocce decomposte diventano Trias, e le rocce dolomia etc formatesi in teoria da loro sono grigiastre o nere, quelle poi che diventano sempre decomponendosi per erosione etc, sono Rosso ammonitico Lombardo o Verdi, a loro volta erodendosi formano il Cretaceo le cui rocce sono di un splendido azzurro, che ne pensi? Ciao ti seguo con curiosità, quando passerai ai singoli fossili? Le foto potrei fornirle io ovviamente senza copyright, saluti

    In effetti i colori delle rocce del passato richiederebbero più di un articolo! Credo che ci vorrebbe un corso e prima dovrei studiare parecchio e soprattutto chiedere agli amici geologi! Diciamo che sarebbe un bel progetto…ne avevo sentito parlare anche “un” mio prof qualche anno fa….
    L’unica cosa che posso dirti è che la dolomia triassica non deriva dalle rocce permiane ma è stata deposta dagli organismi che hanno preso i minerali disciolti nelle acque dei loro mari…
    Poi la faccenda delle Dolomie è sempre un mistero: gli organismi dovrebbero aver depositato ‘carbonato di calcio’ (calcare – preciso per chi non lo sapesse) che poi dovrebbe essersi trasformato in qualche modo (sconosciuto) in ‘carbonato di calcio e magnesio’ (Dolomia) a causa di un’enorme abbondanza di magnesio soprattutto nel Triassico Superiore… Giusto per dire che avrebbe tutto il diritto di essere grigia (anche se poi è rosa) e i calcari biancastri/grigiastri.
    Il nero spesso dipende da una grande abbondanza di materia organica semi-decomposta contenuta negli strati sedimentari (…vedi strati bituminosi ad esempio)
    Ovviamente parlo di rocce sedimentarie perchè se si parla di rocce vulcaniche, il colore dipende solo dal tipo di magma che è solidificato e non dal periodo.
    Una piccola curiosità non certo per te ma per i meno esperti, il colore delle rocce che vediamo passeggiando o percorrendo una strada di montagna non è mai o quasi mai quello originale ma è dovuto ad una notevole alterazione superficiale dovuta soprattutto agli agenti atmosferici…
    Grazie Massimiliano! Ne parlerò con gli amici Geologi certo più competenti di me sull’argomento ‘rocce’ e comunque se volesse intervenire qualcuno sui commenti è benaccetto…
    Parlare dei singoli fossili si potrebbe. Avrei in progetto di trattare periodo per periodo, cosa viveva sul pianeta Terra, ma ci vuole molto tempo e, non essendo un lavoro, bisogna farlo nei ritagli! Se il progetto parte, sta tranquillo che ti chiederò di certo qualche immagine di esempio!!
